I don't know if it's reliable, but I just spent the last 45 minutes monkeying with it and that seems to work. Confirm this on next screen. Keep the script on the desktop right next to inputmapper.

If it was settings, then you or something would have changed something which I can't guess what was changed. An older one I had kept losing connectivity. This might be a necro, but I don't care. This issue is very common for laptop users where the operating system is tuned for maximum power saving, but it can affect desktop users as well. But need to have device manager open, pair and quickly right click properties on the wireless controller, go to the service tab and check the blank box and confirm. Especially since I can set-up two control schemes, one normally for gaming, and another for watching videos making use of the touch pad as the mouse is really great.
