Rubber Duck and Cottonmouth have a long, antagonistic history. The convoy is a part of the vital supply chain that is all that is allowing Britain to fight off the Nazi threat. The truckers react under the leadership of Rubber Duck and they leave the place in a convoy. The Sheriff is happy to use his power to extort money from anyone who he runs into, and he has a particular dislike for truckers. Director Sam Peckinpah packed this movie with plenty of action and fun with exemplary camera work provided. It was so obvious and useless that they even used studio tanks for lazy shots of a ship that was calm in the water. Two officers of the same war ship has been married to the same woman and she just so happens to be on a transport vessel that the Germans plan to sink.
Soon the unscrupulous Sheriff Wallace comes to the restaurant and tells that he will arrest Spider Mike who wants to go home since his pregnant wife is near the delivery. Cranford lives the life of a playboy sportsman until the outbreak of war when he joins the Royal Navy and is assigned to convoy protection duties. Along for the ride is Melissa, a beautiful photographer who just wanted a ride to the airport. Overall the film, even with its cheap looks, did entertain enough to make the story interesting to the end. Soon others truckers join the convoy in a huge protest. As the standoff escalates, New Mexico Governor Jerry Haskins joins the fray, he who sees the strong public support for the truckers being something on which he can capitalize politically. For a fast paced early war movie, this was played well by the actors.
A bit of help from the studio would have made this project much better. . Cottonmouth rallies other law enforcement officers throughout the southwest, they who soon learn that stopping Rubber Duck, the face of the now highly public standoff, is not as easy as shooting him and the truck due to his highly explosive cargo. The truckers stop at a truck stop where Rubber Duck meets the photographer Melissa that asks for a ride to the airport. This boils over when the truckers refuse to give in to one of his extortion attempts and get into a fight with the Sheriff and the local police.
A German battleship targets the convoy protection ships and a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. When news spreads on the C. And as you can guess from a 1940 British war movie, the allies are going to give their best as the brutes from central Europe try to advance on the people of Great Britain. Attention, movie lovers and cheap people craving free entertainment! It was probably necessary to use miniatures for some of the fight scenes but this film went well overboard by filming all actors in a studio environment using a water tub for close-up scenes of ships. In the film Sheriff Wallace is unscrupulously identifying himself as a trucker while talking on the C. Because of an incident that occurs at the restaurant the truckers decide to head out of state to avoid prosecution.
Written by Even though this film was a flag waving gift to the British war effort, this did not take away from the interesting plot that was contained within the story. Eventually the convoy draws extensive public support and attention from politicians. Relations between the truckers and the sheriff worsen to the point where a confrontation develops between the sheriff and some of the truckers in a restaurant. But for some reason, the filming studio decided, perhaps to save money, used a large amount of miniatures during most of the film which took away from the viewing pleasure. The channel is a collection of Paramount full-length films and clips, including selections that range from black and white to color, comedy to horror, and everything in between. This is the rub of the story as now conflict between the two officers must be settled before engaging the Germans in a sea battle. This results in a cross-state, even inter-state chase, and grows in magnitude as more and more trucks join the rebels, forming a convoy. . . .
