Beyond simply feeling rock-solid when hustled around turns, this car communicates with the driver in a manner that inspires confidence no matter what kind of driving you're doing. The engine and gearbox are sublime, inviting you to constantly toy with the clutch, shifter and gas pedal. The coupe also has a sport-tuned suspension while the convertible has a power-retractable hardtop. This one has been the most fun. Facebook: Instagram: Subscribe today for all the latest reviews! And even when that happens, this Bavarian classic has consistently retaken its crown.
I have the 335xi version that gave me absolutely no problems in Chicago's snowiest winter in over 30 years and the alpine white with red leather interior absolutely turns heads. The twin-turbo six just pours on seamlessly strong power across its rev range. I also drive using turn signals, obeying most traffic laws, and don't behave like a typical Mass. Front passengers get dual-threshold front-impact airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags. A 6-speed automatic with steptronic manual shifting is optional, with 50-percent-quicker reactions than before. Driving the sport-tuned 335i is a pleasure: bucket loads of torque in each gear are made usable by precise steering and magnetic handling.
I've driven many other hi performance cars, but none as satisfying to drive. Despite the sloping roofline, rear-seat space is impressive, the coupe serving up room for two 6-footers with acceptable knee room and plenty of head room; the trunk, as well, is more than adequate. Buyers who feel the 335i is too pedestrian and see the M3 as too expensive can choose the slightly in-between 335is. This is a car that makes you feel like a better driver than you really are. It provided the comfort I needed awesome lumbar support and heated seats as well as the sassy style that was so befitting of my personality at the time. On the wrecker again 3rd time in less than 7months. They are a little bulkier, less cutting-edge and put more emphasis on luxury than drive, in comparison with older 3-series models.
Just like the old N54 engine, the N55 is as smooth as single malt, makes a sweet sound, and is plenty powerful. The following review will run through some of the top 335i coupe features in comparison to past models and other, similar cars on the market. It has a different taillight shape than the sedan, shorter side windows and a smaller, two-person rear seat instead of a three-person bench. Pedal feel is reassuringly firm. Diagnosis bad battery and programming issues. There would even be demand for that car with a six-speed manual! The turbocharged I-6 delivers power smoothly throughout the rev range, the steering is spot-on, the brakes are responsive, and the clutch and gear shifter are calibrated such that you never seem to miss a shift point. They had a wide selection of cars, and although they're a bit space-confined, they had no trouble making any of their vehicles available for a test drive upon request.
There are four body styles, two engines, two transmissions and a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. Tracking into the bends was flawless, and with sport-tuned aluminum front double pivot- and five-link rear suspension as standard, the 355i's handling was so precise that we felt like taking the traction control off just to see if we could make the car misbehave. Interior Design and Special Features The 3 Series interiors provide a restrained show of luxury. Through the quarter-mile, the earlier car managed 13. We bought a 2011 X3 28i.
One point of mild criticism we do have is the tendency of the manual shifter to resist engagement on occasion--particularly when changing into our favored second gear. It's fast from a dig and a roll. These high end parts are expensive! The 335i is no different. Secondly, the incorporation of direct high-pressure fuel injection using recently developed piezo injectors gives the 335i an increased 2to 3 percent fuel savings and 20 percent fewer emissions. Compared with similar cars The closest competitor of the 335i coupe is probably the Audi A5 or the Mercedes E-Class Coupe.
I drove one a couple years ago on a run from Alabama to Michigan—much of it on twisty two-lanes—and it would be hard to find a car that could equal the 335i in those conditions. I bought the car, it was fine 2 weeks later I had 2 service lights come on and a bunch of chips in the windshield I didn't see before I bought. In addition to its more powerful engine, the 335 model has power front seats and a premium Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system. Unnecessary for experienced drivers such as ourselves, perhaps, but it quickly spoils one when driving somewhere like San Francisco, where our test drive began and ended. The convertible's available industry-first heat-reflective leather does a wonderful job of keeping occupants' posteriors cool. All the major depreciation is already taken and at these low miles all you eed to do is put gas and go. They cannot reliably repair the fuel injection defect.
Tap the accelerator, the turbos kick in and it is off like a shot. A six-speed manual is the standard gearbox and a six-speed automatic is optional. Another piece of standard equipment, Brake Drying, periodically wipes the discs clear of water by lightly applying the brakes. Instead, the focus has been on improving economy up eight per cent to 33. The 2011 pulls away beyond 100 mph, hitting that speed in 12. I highly recommend Amati to purchase a car. The handling and the performance are first rate.
Had we done so, we could have still relied on the 335i's all-round ventilated disc brakes with brake fade compensation to ensure snappy, linear deceleration. The convertible offers a reasonable cargo hold when the hardtop is up, but it shrinks considerably when the top is lowered. The stability control system integrates several features designed to improve braking performance, such as periodically wiping the brake rotors when the windshield wipers are in use wet brakes don't stop so well and snugging the pads to the rotors when the driver abruptly lifts off the throttle, which quickens brake responsiveness. The 335i outperforms other cars of its same size, year and price range. I highly recommend this car. I swear they reset a timer on it when I take it to the Stealership so it has to come back in every so many weeks for a new expensive repair.
