Corporate told me they would send a tow truck to house to take to closest dealership. Was told I would have an answer 3 days ago. A few Nissan dealers have tried to sell me on the timing chain idea too but, there is not any noise coming from the front of the motor. I just found that my Murano 2005 with 95k begins to make noise whenever I accelerate forward or sometimes backward. They can check any internal parts that can be affected by low oil level or heat damamge. Nissan did a recall back in 2006 for oil consumption due to bad piston rings, but many owners report to us that the recall didn't fix the problem.
Car was towed, and new transmission needed. I drove home to think of what to do next a week passed. The noise comes back, I will update the post again. At this particular time I was a frustrated and mad because I had just purchased this vehicle and I should not have been having these problems and having to beg for transportation. It sounds like the timing chain or valves hitting the casing.
Just sayan, as going back and redoing the chain job is no cake. I will be taking it into a Nissan dealership this weekend and should know one way or the other in a few days. They said it sounded internal. This car has been a true gem compared to quality and cost to own of newer models. I should tell Captain Picard that he is officially screwed. I have 118K miles on my Murano and I am the original owner. They have them to keep you there to shop for other stuff and to drive others out of business Heh, that sounds familiar.
I'm a single mother and do not have any more money to sink into this lemon. Unfortunately at 70k I started to have major issues with it. I went the next day and was told that the the emergency breaking system light had been reprogrammed. I worked on cars before and I know metal to metal noise is not a good sign. I picked it up two days after.
It ended up coming from my exhaust behind the engine! I received my vehicle back and drove it a while only to make another service call about a week later. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. Walmart does not have those services to make money most of the shops lose money or don't make much. Finally I noticed the oil light lingering when I turned the ignition. I had another Maxima previously and always had great outcome with it. I was told the Technician cleaned Injectors, and Throttle and Added fuel additives. I never had a major problem with the car.
I would also recommend it for that reason as well as the great gas mileage it gets on both highway and interstate miles. Transmission slips out of gear during regular driving allowing the engine to rev freely then jerking back into gear with a loud clunk. Jhons Burns called Tommy Wright again and told him to come get my car that their indeed was a problem with my vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Bought car one year ago at 120000 miles. Dealer says, car will work without any problems at 103,000 miles 8th year body frame - under carriage on driver side rusted, with a bulge. Then, it seemed to get progressively worse, louder towards the end of March.
They can check any internal parts that can be affected by low oil level or heat damamge. Well guys thought i'd update this thread. We have changed the oil in our Murano on schedule and the knock is still there. And Jah know it not cheap, so come with over a grand! I thought I was going to love my Nissan Maxima. Had rust develop in trunk drain where water runs off the rear windshield end of November 2017.
The shields checked out fine, they told us that the oil was really low and that could be the cause and said we should change the oil. I took my car out onto to some back roads to take a video of the noise so people can hear what I am talking about. To say don't sue Wal-mart? The vehicle had not been repaired. I though adding this bit of information could be crucial to the thread. Nissan Maxima is a vehicle and a brand I would advise anyone looking for a good car for the money.
You seriously can't fix it. Well, February came and the noise was consistent. I ran into a ditch twice and very nearly was in an accident when my car cut off while I was turning at a busy intersection. I told him to wait one minute that he would not to continue to talk to me in a rude tone any longer. When the car comes to a stop in the traffic light, then sometimes, it does not move.
